Based in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, Jade Coast Design creates residential landscapes shaped by the character of each site and the rhythms of daily life.

Our work responds to existing site conditions, using regionally appropriate materials and climate-conscious planting to create outdoor spaces that feel natural, functional, and connected to the surrounding landscape. Each project is shaped by the site itself and by the ways people gather, garden, relax, and spend time outdoors.

Our Process

Our work begins with understanding the site and how the space will be used day to day. We consider sun, soil, drainage, circulation, maintenance, and surrounding ecology to create outdoor spaces that feel functional, connected to the landscape, and designed to evolve naturally over time.

Landscape Design

We develop landscape concepts that shape the layout, movement, materials, and overall feel of the space. Each design responds to the architecture, existing site conditions, and the ways the landscape will be used and experienced throughout the seasons.

Planting Design

Planting is a central part of our work. We create layered, climate-responsive planting plans with an emphasis on seasonality, biodiversity, and species well suited to the Pacific Northwest.

Design Development & Build Support

As the design develops, we refine planting, materials, and site details, and can work alongside trusted contractors and other professionals during installation. As needed, we can also collaborate with contractors and design professionals to support project-specific technical detailing and implementation.

We stay involved throughout the process as needed to help ensure the design is carried through thoughtfully and consistently.
